Cyanoacrylate Validation Targets

Foster+Freeman’s simple and effective solution to validate the integrity of cyanoacrylate-based fingermark fuming processes. MVC FFLEX Validation Targets are single-use strips dosed with a proprietary solution that develops in the same manner as a fingerprint during cyanoacrylate fuming. MVC FFLEX Validation Targets are supplied in packs of 300.

MVC Lite

The Foster+Freeman MVC Lite is a fully portable fingerprint fuming chamber for the safe and controlled development of latent fingerprints at the crime scene. Mounted within a rugged weather-proof case, the MVC Lite retains all the features of a full-sized fuming chamber and can be used for the development of latent fingerprints using both cyanoacrylate and PolyCyano UV. A fully automated system with safety interlocks and self-contained fume cleansing, the MVC Lite maintains a safe environment for the rapid visualisation of fingerprints on evidence at the crime scene.

RECOVER LFT

Foster+Freeman’s RECOVER LFT is a cutting-edge chemical vapor fuming process to develop fingerprints on a range of difficult surfaces including those that have been exposed to extreme heat (eg discharged bullet casings) and items that have been washed ‘clean’ in an attempt to prevent identification. This discovery provides the ability to recover fingerprints from items that would have been previously difficult or impossible. It has shown particularly good results when used on fired ammunition cases, knives and contaminated metallic items.

Foster and Freeman Cyanobloom Cyanoacrylate Fingermark Deposit

Cyanobloom

Cyanoacrylate fuming is one of the most commonly used methods of developing latent fingerprints on a wide variety of surfaces. As the cyanoacrylate glue evaporates it reacts with the amino acids, fatty acids and proteins in the fingerprint and the moisture in the air to produce a visible white polymer along the ridges of the fingerprint that can be photographed or further enhanced by dusting with a colored powder or by coating with a fluorescent dye. Foster+Freeman’s Cyanobloom glue works effectively in all fuming cabinets, including FFLEX, MVC and MVC Lite.

PolyCyano UV

The one-step fluorescent fingerprint fuming process The Foster+Freeman range of cyanoacrylate fuming cabinets are designed to accommodate the use of the PolyCyano UV one-stage chemical staining process. Exclusive to Foster+Freeman outside of Japan, PolyCyano UV dramatically reduces fingerprint processing times by combining cyanoacrylate monomer with a fluorescent stain in a one-stage fuming process inside the cabinet.

fpNatural Powders

Foster+Freeman’s fpNatural Powders can reveal high contrast fingermarks while suppressing background interference. Despite the vast quantity of fingerprint treatments currently available, examiners continue to be frustrated by a number of ‘difficult’ substrates. Multi-coloured and densely patterned backgrounds, reflective metal surfaces and substrates that fluoresce at the same wavelengths as common fluorescent fingerprint treatments, can prevent the successful imaging of fingerprints. However, when dusted with fpNatural infrared fluorescent powders, interference can be removed to reveal high contrast prints.

Imaging Systems

Warsash Imaging Systems

DCS 5

Used by fingerprint experts across the globe, the Foster+Freeman DCS 5 is a comprehensive imaging system for the illumination, visualisation, photography, and enhancement of almost any type of fingerprint on any surface or background, ensuring that maximum detail is revealed. Built around a modified flagship Nikon camera and fitted with application-specific macro lenses, DCS 5 systems include a comprehensive selection of imaging and illumination modules capable of revealing fingerprints and producing images of exceptional quality. Advanced digital enhancement maximises print detail to further improve the value of evidence.

DISCOVER

A truly versatile fingerprint imaging system designed to maximise the search, detection and imaging of evidence at the crime-scene and in the laboratory. Combining the handheld Crime-lite AUTO with a modular laboratory dock, DISCOVER is a versatile two-part workstation for every stage of the forensic evidence workflow. Requires the Foster+Freeman Crimelite AUTO.

AARI

Using AARI (Amino Acid Rapid Imager), tasks that previously took many hours of manual processing can now be achieved in minutes with streamlined visualisation and mark-up of fingermarks. Dramatically increase the speed and accuracy of fingerprint visualisation on items of porous/semi-porous evidence using a fully-integrated detection and imaging system with intelligent AI Assist Ridge Detection software from Foster+Freeman

CSU (Cylindrical Surface Un-Wrapper)

Cylindrical Surface Un-Wrapper for DCS and DISCOVER is used to ‘Un-Wrap’ 2D images of fingerprints on 3D objects including bullets, pens, tools and syringes. Developed by Foster+Freeman as an innovative new accessory for use with the DISCOVER and DCS fingerprint imaging systems, items of evidence that had previously presented a significant challenge to forensic photographers can now be quickly and easily examined and enhanced.
