Optical power meters are commonly used to measure absolute light power in dBm. For dBm measurement of light transmission power, calibration of fibre optic power meters is essential. A fibre optic power meter is also used with an optical light source for measuring loss or relative power level in dB. Alternatively, some users may prefer an integrated two-way LTS

Loss Test Set
, or a simple LTS. All hand held optical power meters from Kingfisher are coloured blue for easy identification, have interchangeable connectors and long battery life, calibration certificates and a 3 year warranty and calibration cycle.

An Optical Loss Test Set is used to test attenuation and absolute power level on transmission systems. It combines a source and meter in one unit. Two LTS

Loss Test Set
s are usually required to measure losses on installed systems.

All LTSs from Kingfisher are coloured red for easy identification. These Autotest instruments are interoperable with any other Kingfisher Autotest instruments with matching wavelengths.

These LTSs offer superior measurement stability in practical use. When a test lead is repeatedly re-connected to the light source, the coupled power varies by < 0.1dB. An LTS can also be used as a tone generator for use with a clip-on identifier.

The KI 7700 series LTS (Loss Test Set) combines a source and meter in one handheld instrument. A pair of instruments are ideal for measuring optic cable loss, featuring a tone source facility for quick identification and continuity checking.
